Robin McAlister, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The Jersey Shore Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation seeks applicants for the academic year 2009 - 2010 Robin McAlister, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Applicants may be from any Ocean County high school and demonstrate an exceptional commitment to our beaches and waves consistent with the Surfrider Mission.

This $1,000 award will be given to one recipient based upon the merits displayed in his/her completed application. Monies may be used for tuition and/or books at an accredited college, university or vocational school.

Robin McAlister, Jr., was a talented musician and avid long-boarder. He was a resident of Ocean County for most of his life and he embraced a simple surfer lifestyle. At the age of 27, he was diagnosed with advanced cancer of the colon and liver. He passed on shortly thereafter when treatments and surgery did not improve his condition. He leaves behind his parents Robin Sr. and Monica and two sisters Heather and Erin. Together with the family, we are privileged to offer this scholarship in his name so that Robin's spirit and love of the ocean can touch future generations.
